Many of you may know from previous posts and from me telling stories during treatments, that Chris and I have a very dear friend who had a double lung transplant 6 weeks ago. Today is the annual Great Strides Walk and groups of supporters will be gathered across the country to help fundraise and to bring awareness about cystic fibrosis.
I was just in Toronto last week visiting my friend Paul and his wife Sandra. It mushed my heart deeply and blew me away really to see his amazing recovery and to watch him zipping around, full of passion for being able to walk again and to breath!
Here are a few words from Paul's father that I wanted to share:
On Good Friday, our son Paul, who has dealt with Cystic Fibrosis nearly all of his 41 1/2 years, received a double-lung transplant in Toronto. He is recovering and pursuing a vigourous rehabilition programme there and keeping everyone informed of his progress on his blog on his website - www.paulneedslungs.com. While he welcomes direct contributions towards his high expenses of living with Sandra in downtown Toronto near the TGH (which he must visit four or five days each week), we also wish to continue to support Cystic Fibrosis Canada, the organization which has done much to preserve his life to this point.
I'm participating in Great Strides™ 2011. You can help support me by making a secure online donation using your credit card. Your privacy is protected. Click on the link below:
